Preparer and reviewer sign-off

Preparation records that a step is ready for review. A separate reviewer checks the work and signs it off. Follow the steps to prepare and review a close task.

Steps

  1. Open a step in Close. Check the Preparer and Reviewer assignments. Ask your Close lead or an admin to correct assignments if needed.
  2. Choose Start if the step has not started. Add supporting files, review the ledger and support figures, and explain differences in Notes or on the account lines shown.
  3. Address the checks the step asks for, including flagged variances, aging notes, and prior-period adjustments where applicable. Confirm or edit an AI variance draft before review.
  4. Choose Mark prepared. If a check blocks preparation, read the message, fix or explain the listed items, and try again.
  5. The assigned reviewer, or an admin who did not prepare the step, reviews the work and chooses Review and sign off. That moves a prepared step directly to complete.
  6. If the work needs correction before sign-off, the reviewer can choose Send back. Check the recorded preparer, reviewer, and dates at the top of the step.

Questions and answers

Can I review a step I prepared?
For a team close, the preparer cannot review their own step. Ask another teammate to review it.
Do I need a separate Mark complete click?
Review and sign off completes a prepared step in one action. If an earlier step is already in Reviewed, its reviewer or an admin can use Mark complete.
